The following contradicts some of the myths surrounding workaholism. 1.
Work addiction doesn’t originate in high-powered jobs. 2.
Workaholics don't make the best employees. They are not team players (They believe they can do a better
job than their co-workers can) They are not well rounded (There is no balance in their
lives) They are not efficient (They become so obsessed with details
they have trouble seeing the larger outcome, therefore taking 12 hours
to do a six hour job) They can't see the big picture (They are too task oriented)
They are arrogant (Along with a nagging insecurity, they
think they can do the best job and therefore don’t listen to other workers)
They are control junkies (They believe their approach is
the best) They are narrow thinkers (They're so obsessed with the task
that they loose sight of creativity) They can't delegate (They take on too much, don't know when
to quit and become burnout's, often suffering from fatigue and mental
distraction) Their standards are too impossible to meet (Workplace morale
dies) They don't always produce a high quality product (They spin
their wheels in getting one thing perfect and other tasks can fall to
the wayside/ or their exhaustion can affect their mental alertness which
leads to mistakes)
